After a nine-year hiatus, the highly anticipated Showcase of Showjumping is set to make its grand return from 2-4 May 2025, bringing excitement and innovation to the Jumping community. Jamie Kermond is leading the charge for the Yandoo Event Team and has shared his enthusiasm and insights on what to expect from this upcoming event.
Reflecting on the event’s comeback, Kermond expressed, “I want to keep pushing the boundaries of the sport that we have here in Australia.” His excitement is palpable as he aims to create a standout show that not only meets but exceeds expectations.
One of the key elements that will set this Showcase apart is the involvement of renowned course designer Frank Rothenberger from Germany. Kermond noted, “It’s pretty cool to have somebody at that level… he’s built over a hundred Nations Cups, two World Championships, five World Cup Finals, and eight Europeans.” Rothenberger’s expertise promises to elevate the competition, ensuring a challenging and engaging experience for both riders and spectators.
The event will also feature substantial prize money and a revamped team’s class format, which aims to be more inclusive for Young Riders, with Kermond emphasising the importance of nurturing the next generation.
The landscape of Jumping in Australia has evolved significantly in the past nine years, and Kermond is committed to ensuring that Showcase reflects these changes. He stated, “The sport just keeps changing and developing everywhere, I want the mindset of not worrying about what the European shows are doing… let’s make Australian shows better for Australia.” This approach highlights a desire to create a uniquely Australian experience that resonates with local audiences.
However, organising such a large-scale event comes with its challenges. Kermond acknowledged the pressure of running a high budget show and the need for diverse sponsorship. “We’ve got a lot of new partners on board as we are trying to bring in different people to the sport,” he explained.
The venue for the Showcase of Showjumping will be the Windsor Polo Club Grounds, at the foot of the Blue Mountains in the Hawkesbury Region of NSW, a venue known for its excellent surface for Jumping. Kermond is optimistic about the conditions, stating, “The surface is one of the best in the country… you want a surface that gives a little bit of give but also provides good push-off for the horses.”

Looking towards the future, Kermond envisions the Showcase of Showjumping as an ongoing event that grows in stature and quality. “If this is one show that we can do year in, year out… it’s our way of pushing the sport and giving back a little bit,” he said.
As the countdown to the event continues, Kermond and his team are focused on delivering a memorable experience for everyone involved. “Hopefully, you come to the show and you’re leaving happy… whether you’re a rider, sponsor, or spectator,” he concluded.
With Kermond at the helm, Showcase of Showjumping promises to be a spectacular event that not only celebrates the sport but also fosters a sense of community and enthusiasm among Jumping fans in Australia. As the date approaches, excitement is building for what is sure to be a highlight in The Australian Jumping calendar.
