SIEC was the host venue for the NSW State Jumping Titles which were held over four days, culminating in two days full of finals action on the weekend. The weather was kind to the organisers with near perfect conditions prevailing over the weekend.

A number of titles, including Seniors, Young Riders, Juniors, Children and Amateurs were determined by way of pointscores accumulated over two rounds and a final. The Speed championship was held as a standalone class on the Saturday afternoon. We will take a look at how the championships were decided over the course of the show.

The Jumping NSW State Speed championship class saw 20 combinations line up, with one man dominating the podium. Experienced rider Andrew Inglis took out first and second places in the class. Andrew and Indiana Goodtimes were the only combination to crack the 60 second mark, finishing with a time of 59.10 seconds to claim the win. He also claimed second place aboard Alillie, finishing in 60.07 seconds. Third place was filled by William Wood and Powerhouse Park Ego Rock, who stopped the clock in 60.79 seconds.

The first final on Arena 2 on Sunday was the Redleaf Lodge Amateur Final. Lori James and Bond Girl SHP won the final with the only double clear performance of the day, however, it was not enough to take out the Series. The winners of the NSW State Amateur title were Sophie Hatch and the OTT mare Raise an Angel. While they did not win a class, their consistency of sixth second and third over the three classes was enough to seal the title for them.

Also decided on Arena 2 was the King Ranch Equestrian Children’s State Title. After finishing in second then fourth place in the preliminary rounds, Jasmine Cook and Sherbert Wizz Fizz broke through for the win in the final and in the process, secured victory in the title race.

The first class decided on Aarena 1 on Sunday was the Stonewall Equestrian Junior Title Final. The win in the final went to Jake Tomlinson and Wallaroo Jaguar who produced the quickest of five double clear performances. After placing second in the first round then taking out the second round, Reese Keenan and PPP Vive Le Mop could only finish eleventh in the final, but it was enough to snatch the title as the best performed combination over the three rounds.

The race for the title was an extremely close series. Charlie Magnier and Notre Dame De Bourguignon won both the first round and the final, however a slip to finish eleventh in the second round cost him dearly. Reigning Australian Young Rider Champions Clemency Hughes and YPH Capulet took out the title after placing third in the first round then winning the second round, before coming seventh in the final, to claim the title by the barest of margins.

Maverick Miles and Verdasco are the new Equestrian NSW, NSW State Senior Champions after dominating a small start list over the course of the show. Mav and Verdasco almost put together a perfect show. They won both the first and second rounds on Thursday and Friday, which placed them in a strong position on the pointscore going into the final on Sunday. In the final, held over two rounds, they were tied with the winners Tom McDermott and Cooley Gangster on penalties, however Tom was just 0.11 second quicker, relegating Maverick and Verdasco to second place, however this was enough for them to claim the title. After stepping up earlier in the year to compete at World Cup Qualifier level for the first time, this is certainly a combination on the rise.

The other feature class on the program was the Winning Group sponsored Mini Prix. There was only one combination who completed the class double clear, with the win going to James Paterson-Robinson and Yirrkala Edward.

It was a very successful show, with many other non-title classes on the program which allowed all levels of competitors to be involved. We congratulate not only the winners of the various State Titles, but also the winners and placegetters in all classes held across the course of the show.
